Spring Wedding Trends for 2013

AGC Blogs

Every year presents its own trends, and 2013 is no different! If interested in incorporating some of the most popular ones, take a glance at the list below and see if any catch your eye.

Seasonal Flowers
When it comes to flower selection, seasonal picks are all the rage. Flowers such as tulips and peonies are rich with color and perfect for the spring. As an added bonus, that’s also when they’re most affordable.

Guest Book or Scrap Book
Instead of asking guests to sign a traditional guest book, create a scrapbook filled with colorful designs. Leave space for guests to write a note, a wish, or even advice. If you’re having a photo booth, ask guests to put a picture next to their entry to help record memories of your special evening.

Creative Food
Can’t decide between a plated dinner or a two entrée buffet? Why not try a themed action station? Offer a menu of sliders and french fries, miniature tacos and churros, or pasta with assorted sauces. Action stations not only keep guests moving, they also keep them sated and offer plenty of options.

DIY
Special touches are king! Whether naming tables after places you’ve traveled to, or making a CD of your favorite songs as a wedding favor, special touches like these will go a long way to making your special day as memorable as it is unique.

Think Green
Whether it’s shades of mint, forest, or emerald, green is the color for 2013. Try incorporating this color in your bouquet, jewelry, or place settings.

Mismatched
Mismatched dresses have been a recurring trend the last couple years, but now you can think outside the box by using mismatched linens, colorful prints, tall and short centerpieces—anything to mix it up!

Options
Venues that offer both indoor and outdoor space are ideal for weddings that take place in the warmer months. Imagine exchanging vows at sunset, or your guests sipping cocktails under a blanket of stars.

Create a Lounge
Need a place to take a breather from all the excitement? Consider creating a lounge area away from the dance floor where you can sit and relax! The lounge can be used to make your event feel more “clubby,” or as a place to have intimate conversations with your guests. Whatever the case, adding a lounge will make your wedding more unique and comfortable.

Off-Peak Night
Saturdays are out! Who says that you have to get married on a Saturday night ? More and more couples are choosing their wedding day based on a significant date in their relationship, such as their first kiss, or the first time they said “I love you.” Best of all, choosing an off-peak night might get a killer deal from your venue and vendors.

Farewell Snack
A night of dancing, laughing, and visiting are enough to make anyone hungry! Consider offering a midnight snack to your guests—something simple and inexpensive such as seasonal fruit skewers, or miniature cookies and milk. Your late-night guests will thank you.
