5 Ways to truly remember your Big Day!

Planning a wedding, executing your vision and coordinating family, while staying in budget, can be stressful. Remember, this is supposed to be the happiest time of your life! Once the Big Day as finally arrived it is important to remember that you need to relax, enjoy yourself and create memories to last a lifetime. Here are some ideas to create those lasting memories: Write a poem honoring a loved one (parent, grand parents, aunt/uncle or friend). This is a thoughtful way to remember that person at your wedding. Instead of having it read out-loud, the poem can be beautifully displayed on an easel at the entrance to the cocktail hour. Guests can stop and read the moving tribute prior to starting the celebration.

  1. The bride and/or groom can give a moving toast….telling the romantic story of how you met or how you proposed. The toast should be moving, honest and not too long. The story is should help guests understand the two of you as a couple. Remember to focus on good times and keep it upbeat & simple.
  2. Make sure to have a guest book. Reading personal notes from your guests is a lovely way to rekindle the warm emotions of your wedding day. Whether reading it on your honeymoon or 10 year anniversary, the guest book will always make you smile.
  3. Donate a small percentage of your gift money to a charity. Even small contributions will help any cause. “Paying it Forward” with your guests’ generosity will positively effect you and the cause you’re supporting. It is a positive way to start your new life together. Each time you remember your wedding, you’ll revisit the good that came out of it.
  4. Finally, take a few minutes to just stand back and observe the event with your new spouse. As a participant, you’re kissing, dancing, greeting, laughing, talking and socializing; it go by in a blink. Make sure to commit five minutes to stand still and watch the joy and love of your family & friends and the beauty of your wedding day.
