How to Make Your Grand Getaway After Your Wedding Reception

Katie Wright, The Tribute Golf Club

Nothing caps off a great evening than an unforgettable exit on your wedding night. From fabulous firework exits to dazzling departures in carriages, today’s bride can do it all. Here are a few options to consider when selecting your personalized grand getaway.

Fireworks

Fireworks are definitely a showstopper. Although this can be a pricy option, fireworks certainly create a magic memory for your guests. Be sure your photographer is aware of the plan to ensure proper photos & lighting at the designated show time. Double check BEFORE securing your fireworks that all permits from the fireworks vendor are included in the cost, and that your venue allows fireworks to take place.

Sparklers

Sparklers are sure to light up & enhance the final moments of your evening. Proper timing is key to ensure you capture the moment precisely. Some venues and cities do not allow sparklers, so it is always best to confirm the rules & regulations with your venue. Most venues will require that you supply the sparklers, at least 2 sand buckets for sparkler disposal & a few long lighters.

Rose Petals

Rose petals show up great in photos! Check with your venue first though, as most venues have rules regarding petals, including the use of real petals only outside and regulations on the type of roses used, due to staining concerns. As a biodegradable option, oftentimes rose petals require no associated clean-up fee.

Bubbles

Bubbles add a sense of magic to the conclusion of your special night. Easy to obtain & coordinate at the time of exit, bubbles add a creative touch and you can display them near the exit doors during the reception as part of your decorations, and even personalize the containers (or bubbles themselves!) to match your event’s colors. Clean-up is also easy for these!

Confetti / Champagne Poppers

Both options can be a fun, interactive exit for both you & your guests. However, be careful as some venues may tag you with a clean-up fee.

Ribbon Wands

Ribbon wands can be purchased at a party outlet, or for a fun treat, these can be DIY-created to reflect the theme & overall décor of your event. This is a fairly inexpensive getaway option, and entertaining for participants and spectators alike!

Other Unique Exits

Social media, websites & blogs are always sourcing new creative ideas on how to enhance your event to reflect your personality. Most venues have also seen their fair share of unique exits and can help you formulate an idea. Be sure to inquire with your event venue on acceptable options to avoid any surprise fees that may pertain to clean-up or damages. Here are a few examples of other unique exits we like:

  • Snow
  • Balloon Release
  • Dove Release
  • Military Sword Tunnel
