Glam Up Your Wedding!

Allison L. Doyle

If you’re planning your wedding or other special private event and you want to do something a bit out-of-the-ordinary, then we suggest taking your day to the next level and ‘glamming’ it up a bit! There are several ways you can ‘glam’ up your wedding, and we wanted to share a few.

Light It Up

An easy way to glam up your wedding is by focusing on the lighting. This is especially important if you have an outdoor reception that will last until the evening hours, as you want your guests to still be able to see (and be lighted well) as the natural light fades. Think about options such as twinkle lights, hanging outdoor chandeliers, or even lighted balloons or mason jars with candles. There are many different ways you can light up your event, even if you’re holding it outdoors. If your ceremony is being held underneath a gazebo, consider adding some hidden lights within the flowers to give you some extra lighting for photos of the vow exchange. And string lights are always popular for receptions, indoor or out.

Don’t Forget The Details

You might not think at first that the little things matter, but those small touches that you make to your overall event design add to the whole experience and tone of your wedding, and can really add a bit of glamour to a set-up. Matching linens, silverware, centerpieces, or even drapery can work to create a fully put-together feel for your wedding or reception. Line your pathway to the alter with matching flowering bouquets that are also matched to those in the arch. Make sure the glass in the lights complements the silverware and serving trays and dishes.

Keep To A Theme

While your theme might not be as obvious as, say, a Western-style wedding or a Victorian celebration, you can still choose a theme to go with your wedding that keeps the event tied together nicely. You might want all your tables to be covered in a sparkling fabric, or all your glassware to be more theatrical in nature. If you choose to stay with a wedding color theme, you can have your flower arrangements and linens match, and perhaps even coordinate your wedding party’s clothes to complement these tones. You might even want the entire reception room to be a certain color, from the chairs to the tables to the wallpaper to the lighting. It’s up to you, as it’s your wedding day!

When you decide to ‘glam’ up your wedding, you’re choosing to add a polished look to the event, which will help your photos look amazing and also leave a lasting impression on your guests.
