So he gave you the ring - congratulations! The coming weeks and months will be filled with wedding planning and decisions regarding your ceremony and reception, and what better way to prepare for your upcoming special day than by sharing the excitement with your closest friends and loved ones?

In today’s world of Pinterest and Facebook, we see all of the cute, new ways to ask your girlfriends to be part of your bridal party, but what option will you choose? As planners at Beaver Brook Country Club, one of the best places to get married in New Jersey, we are familiar with all the choices. Newly engaged brides come to us with questions and for advice on how to ask their friends to be part of their special day, and we wanted to share these 5 creative ways to ask your friends to be your bridesmaids.

Option 1: Decorated Spoons

One creative and DIY way to ask your friends to be your bridesmaids is to create decorated spoons. You can either decorate a spoon with the question, “Will You Be My Bridesmaid” or decorate 2 – one with the question, and one with the name of “Bridesmaid” or “Maid of Honor.” These spoons can be created many ways, but one is by covering the top of the spoon in white paint with glitter accents on the edge, and then inking the question in black within the curve of the spoon face itself.

Option 2: Pop the Question

Another creative option for choosing your bridal party is by creating small boxes with faux diamonds within them. Package these up like wedding ring boxes, and then on the top of the box, write, “[The Name of Your Fiancé] popped the question, and now it’s my turn… Will You Be My Bridesmaid?”

Option 3: Send Them a Special Treat

This option works especially well for any friends you want to ask who live out of town. You can send a homemade (or bakery-made) cookie or confection through the mail, nicely arranged and with a card asking “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” – you can even add a cute touch such as your phone number for them to reply.

Option 4: Present Them with Jewelry

What girl doesn’t like jewelry? Present your bridesmaids with simple, yet elegant, jewelry boxes with a necklace or earrings you’d like them to wear at your wedding. You can change up the question with a phrase such as, “I couldn’t say ‘I Do’ without you!”

Option 5: There’s Always Wine

There are several online companies who will print you out unique wine bottle covers, and you can pick out the favorite bottle for each of your friends, make it a unique choice, and then create a unique wine bottle cover to present to your friend when you ask her to be your bridesmaid.

These are just 5 of the many creative ways you can ask your friends to be part of your bridal party. Remember, no matter how you choose to ask your friends to be your bridesmaids, always try to make it unique and special. Your friends are important—they are the individuals who have been by your side, and who will be there still on your wedding day.
