Real Wedding - Myk & Raffy
05 Dec, 2018
Tell us how you met and fell in love!
We met through common friends! The Filipino community in Los Angeles is small and we all are connected somehow. We belong to a badminton group here in Los Angeles and are great badminton partners. Started as partners, best friends for a while, and one day it just clicked.
Was there a proposal? Tell us about it!
We got engaged at Mission Church in San Juan Capistrano. We and a group of 8 people try to visit different mission churches in California. On one of our mission church visits at San Juan Capistrano, he proposed. They all planned to wear red, while I really wanted to wear white because it was days before Labor Day. We were praying and when I turned around, they all had yellow and red balloons and he proposed in the altar. We wanted to get married in the church, but the Catholic church wouldn’t allow us.
Why did you choose Knollwood Country Club?
We love that it’s in our local San Fernando Valley. We love that the ceremony and the reception is one place. We were impressed with the huge rooms and that it looks beautiful. The people at Knollwood are very helpful too, that’s a huge plus.
What were some challenges you faced during wedding planning?
Choosing who to invite. We have a huge family and friends. We both also wanted to keep the guestlist down to 75 and keep it intimate.
What were the highlights of the ceremony?
Myk: Seeing my sisters walk down the aisle in their dream gowns. Feeling the love from everyone and especially my husband.
Raffy: Seeing my mom walk down the aisle and seeing all of our family and friends there. I was surprisingly very emotional during the wedding.
What were the highlights of the reception?
Myk: Everything was perfect. The decorations and food were amazing!! The music and the DJ hosting were great! The cake by Pia was delicious. The photo booth by Evie photobooth was great and she even extended an extra hour for free. And we pulled off a surprise wedding flash mob for my husband!
Raffy: Myk surprised me with the flash mob.
