Having a Weekday Wedding

Kathryn Draney

Weekend weddings are the overwhelmingly popular choice - but don't cross weekdays off your list of date options, if you're willing to be a little flexible.

Here are the benefits to having a Monday-Thursday wedding date.

More Intimate

If you host your wedding on a weekday, you can rest assured it will be a very intimate event. The most important people in your life will make a point to be there. In a similar strand to destination weddings, by having a weekday wedding, you can ensure your guest list is made up only of those who mean the most to you and your future spouse.

More Discounts

Most venues offer incredible discounts for Monday-Thursday events. Because these dates are less popular, they are willing to offer services for lower prices in order to ensure their services get used at all. Save major bucks on your big ticket items, like your venue, by hosting your wedding during the week.

Vendors also offer discounts and may even be extra accommodating for your event because they will not have their schedules competing with other booked events.

More Availability & Options

Finding out that your favorite photographer or caterer is booked on your wedding day super far in advance is a nightmare. But if you're willing to be flexible and swap for a weekday, you can have the vendors you most love because you won't be competing with all of the other weekend brides and grooms. You'll get your vendors' undivided attention!

Cheaper Travel

Your out of town guests may have to request dates off of work, but their travel will likely be much cheaper. Flying on weekdays is significantly less expensive than flying on weekends, and guests certainly won't complain about the reduced hotel costs.

More Time With Loved Ones

If you have your wedding at the beginning or end of the week on a weekday, you can assume guests will tack the extra weekend days onto their trip. That means more time with your loved ones and close friends! Instead of only having people in town Friday night-Sunday afternoon, you could have them Friday-Tuesday, or Wednesday-Sunday.

Fewer Kids

If you don't want kids at your wedding, have it on a weekday! Kids will be less likely to attend because it will be a school night.
