Real Wedding - Katrina & Ali

Kathryn Draney

Where Did you Meet?

Ali and I met at his family’s restaurant (Buds Jolly Kone) in Red Bluff. I started working for his family’s restaurant in 2006 and he worked there for a few months in the summer of 2011. We started dating that fall.

How did he propose?

Ali proposed in February 2018 on the beach near Coos Bay in Oregon. His family has a vacation house on the beach, and he took me there for my birthday. He surprised me the day after my birthday by popping the question.

Why Canyon Oaks?

We chose Canyon Oaks because there was so much included in the deal. We could have our event catered and staffed by the venue, as well as set up and tear down. We also liked the fact that there was a place for the groom to get ready onsite, as well as the bride. The venue itself is beautiful and the need to decorate was minimal. Reviews online were also very positive. Another bonus was the round of golf included for getting married there, Ali was very excited about that.

What was your favorite part of your day?

My favorite part of the day, other than getting married to Ali, was seeing everything come together. It was so awesome to see all our hard work over the last year finally happen, and people getting to enjoy it. Even though things didn’t happen exactly as planned, it was so much fun to relax and enjoy the ride and celebrate with family and friends.
